Privacy Policy
Last updated: [DATE]. This policy is issued in terms of the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
1. Introduction
SR Prático ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of everyone who interacts with us — website visitors, clients, suppliers and job applicants. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and what rights you have under POPIA.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Contact details you give us directly — name, email address, phone number and company, submitted via our contact form, WhatsApp, phone or email.
- Message content — the details of any enquiry, quote request or project you share with us.
- Technical data — your approximate location (derived from IP address) is used once, on your first visit, to set the site's default language (Portuguese for Mozambique, English for South Africa). This is a functional lookup and is not linked to your identity or stored beyond your language preference.
3. Purpose of processing
We collect and process personal information only for specific, lawful purposes, including to:
- Respond to enquiries and provide quotes for our services (carpentry & joinery, borehole & solar, equipment rental & servicing, Bloco Forte building materials, and procurement & sourcing);
- Communicate with you about a project, order or service;
- Meet our legal, tax and regulatory obligations; and
- Improve our website and services.
4. Lawful basis for processing
We process personal information on one or more of the following lawful grounds recognised by POPIA: your consent; that processing is necessary to perform a contract with you or to take steps at your request before entering into one; that processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation; or that processing is necessary for our legitimate business interests and does not unreasonably prejudice your rights.
5. Sharing of information
We do not sell personal information. We may share it with service providers who help us operate (for example hosting, email or accounting providers), each bound to protect your information, or where required by law, regulation or a valid legal process. Where personal information is transferred outside South Africa, we take reasonable steps to ensure it remains protected to a standard consistent with POPIA.
6. Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose it was collected for, or as required by law (for example, tax and contractual record-keeping periods), after which it is securely deleted or anonymised.
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, interference, modification or disclosure, consistent with POPIA's Condition 7 (Security Safeguards).
8. Your rights
Subject to POPIA, you have the right to:
- Be notified that your personal information is being collected;
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Request correction or updating of inaccurate, outdated or incomplete personal information;
- Request the destruction or deletion of personal information we no longer have a lawful basis to retain;
- Object to the processing of your personal information, on reasonable grounds; and
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe your rights under POPIA have been infringed.
To exercise any of these rights, contact our Information Officer using the details below.
9. Cookies and similar technology
Our website does not use non-essential cookies or tracking technologies without your consent. See the cookie notice shown on your first visit for details, and our PAIA Manual for how to formally request access to records we hold.
