PAIA Manual
Last updated: [DATE]. Manual issued in terms of Section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA).
1. Purpose of this manual
This manual is published so that members of the public can understand what records SR Prático holds and how to request access to them, in line with our obligations as a private body under PAIA.
2. About SR Prático
SR Prático (registration number [CIPC Registration No.]) is a private company providing carpentry & joinery, borehole & solar, equipment rental & servicing, Bloco Forte building materials, and procurement & sourcing services across Mozambique and South Africa. Registered address: [Registered Physical Business Address].
3. Information Officer
All PAIA requests must be directed to our Information Officer:
Name: [Information Officer Full Name]
Email: [infoofficer@srpratico.com]
Telephone: [Office Telephone Number]
Physical Address: [Registered Physical Business Address]
4. Records we hold
In the ordinary course of business, SR Prático holds records including, but not limited to:
- Company registration, tax and compliance records;
- Client and supplier contracts, quotes and invoices;
- Employee and HR records;
- Financial and accounting records;
- Health, safety and site-operations records; and
- Marketing and website records (including personal information described in our Privacy Policy).
Some of these records are available without a formal PAIA request (for example, this manual and our Privacy Policy). Others may require a formal request as set out below.
5. How to request access to a record
To request access to a record held by SR Prático:
- Complete a written request specifying the record sought, in enough detail to allow us to locate it, and identifying the form of access required (e.g. copy, inspection, transcript).
- Provide proof of identity, and — if requesting on behalf of another person — proof of that person's consent or authority.
- State the right you are seeking to exercise or protect, if access is required to exercise or protect a right.
- Submit the request to the Information Officer using the contact details in Section 3, or via the Information Regulator's prescribed Form 2 (PAIA request form).
6. Fees
A request fee and, where applicable, an access fee may be payable in accordance with the fee structure prescribed under PAIA regulations. We will notify you of any applicable fees before processing your request.
7. Response timeframes
We will respond to a valid request within 30 days of receipt, as required by PAIA, and will notify you in writing of the decision, including reasons for any refusal and your right to appeal (internal appeal, or application to court/the Information Regulator, as applicable).
8. Grounds for refusal
Access to a record may be refused on grounds permitted under PAIA — for example, where disclosure would unreasonably compromise a third party's privacy, involve legally privileged material, or prejudice SR Prático's commercial or financial interests. Any refusal will state the specific section of PAIA relied upon.
9. Appeals and complaints
If you are unhappy with our decision, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa: complaints.IR@justice.gov.za, or via inforegulator.org.za.
10. Availability of this manual
This manual is available on this page free of charge, and a copy can be requested from our Information Officer.
